Parting-off and Grooving Tools - a Universal Turning Tool or a tool with a specific and limited application?
According to old tradition and custom, grooving in general and parting-off in particular are considered to be complicated and difficult turning operations. Unsatisfactory dimension tolerances, short tool life, vibrations and insufficient quality of the section surfaces are rather a rule than an exception, and tool failures are not unusual.
